KING 5:
Six local and national movie theater chains are being sued for not showing more movies with readable captions for people who are hard of hearing in Washington state. The suit was filed Tuesday in King County Superior Court by the Washington State Communication Access Project (Wash-CAP). The complaint explains that many people lose the ability to hear certain high-pitched sounds, making it difficult to understand what is being said. Wash-CAP contends that simply turning up the volume of a movie won’t do the job because then other sounds would become unbearably loud.
