Billboard:
Revered Chicago indie label Touch & Go Records, which has been home to such iconic bands as Slint, the Jesus Lizard and Big Black, will stop releasing new albums and operate going forward as a catalog label. A source at the label confirms the closure and adds that all albums slated to come out through the spring will still be released. The source also said the announcement came as a complete surprise to everyone on staff. “Last week we were talking about South by Southwest, and now this has happened,” said the source. Touch & Go also distributed releases from Seattle’s Suicide Squeeze, Bellingham’s Estrus Records, and many, many more.
