KING 5
A movement that began more than 40 years ago took on a new chapter Thursday night. “Star Trek” is hitting theaters with a newly imagined look, and Puget Sound fans were counting down to the opening scenes. The first showings around town started at 7 p.m., but a line formed at the Cinerama much earlier, with die-hard fans braving the rain to see the latest incarnation of Gene Roddenberry’s classic series. Some came decked out in “Star Trek” gear; the rest came out in rain gear. A few had been waiting since noon, and that part of the fun of these premieres is the camaraderie between those waiting in line. “Star Trek” is showing in more than two dozen theaters in the area tonight, including at the Cinerama.
