Spinner
Genre-bending Seattle country/punk rockers Brent Amaker and the Rodeo whooped it up SXSW-style last night, with a live set at Austin’s Velveeta Room. Spinner.com reviewer Eric R. Danton had this much to say about the rollicking performance—which was accompanied by the sultry stylings of Bunny Monroe of Seattle burlesque troupe Atomic Bombshells: “Amaker and his band dress all in black, cowboy hats firmly in place, and they play a throwback brand of deep-twang country — make that western, if you please — music that would fit nicely on a classic movie soundtrack or Johnny Cash album. Mix in a little punk rock performance art à la Devo and you’ve got a rough approximation of the cowboy persona the Seattle crew embodied Wednesday night.” Check out the entire review via the link above and stay tuned for more SxSeattle updates!
