Sound Magazine
Featured in the most recent issue of Sound Magazine, TC Izlam, son of one of Hip Hop’s pioneers, praised the magazine for its coverage of local talent. “I love that I can pick up Sound and get into what’s happening in this city.” The music enthusiast claims that he may even consider moving to Seattle because of its “Dope Northwest Hip-Hop and Rock scene”. SOUND MAGAZINE TO MERGE WITH CITY ARTS MAGAZINE
Seattle Weekly
Sound magazine and City Arts magazine are merging into one publication. The first combined issue is set to come out in October. For awhile, rumors were circulating that Sound was in danger of folding. The Seattle-based music magazine is often met with mixed reviews (like all publications) with some folks hoping it would go away, and others wanting to support it. This partnership immediately strengthens both Sound and City Arts, creating a formidable voice in local music and arts coverage. Readers of both magazines will continue to get similar comprehensive, local arts and music content, only now in a larger four-color magazine with wider distribution of 60,000 monthly magazines at more than 1,000 locations.
THE ROAD WAY: NW ACTS TAKE TO THE HWY
Sound Magazine
New sights, new sounds; that’s what a road trip is all about. And that’s why a good weekend getaway on our states’ highways and byways is an absolute necessity. In that spirit of adventure, Sound took a handful of up-and-coming Northwest musicians on three unconventional road trips to explore the off-beat bounty of Washington and Oregon. Indie folk-pop band the Pica Beats, innovative Seattle emcee GMK and Portland folk songsmiths Horse Feathers brought their favorite road music to share and graciously let Sound’s photographers film the whole escapade. Check out photos and video of each act performing at the Sound magazine website.
