Reykjavik Calling
Sister Cities Seattle and Reykjavik are coming together for one night at The Crocodile to provide an amazing night of music while showcasing Seattle and Iceland’s most celebrated artists including Mugison, Lay Low, Rachel Flotard, and John Roderick. This 21+ event is free to the public until capacity is reached. The Sister City Showcase: Reykjavik Calling is presented by KEXP in partnership with the City of Reykjavik, Seattle City of Music Festival, Icelandair and Iceland Naturally, and is part of an ongoing effort to bridge the distance between these like-minded cities and introduce fans and musicians to new music. GEAR UP FOR CITY ARTS FEST THIS WEEK

The inaugural City Arts Fest, which is part of the City of Music Festival, is happening this week. Beginning Wednesday, October 20 and continuing on through Saturday, October 23, the festival includes concerts (by both local and nationally-known bands), readings, dance events, drama performances and more. City Arts Festival will be playing at several venues throughout the city, including SIFF Cinema, the Triple Door, Northwest Film Forum, Seattle Art Museum and many more. Look for Seattle favorites Blue Scholars, Fresh Espresso, Macklemore, The Maldives, People Eating People, The Head and the Heart and photographer Chase Jarvis, all of whom will contribute to this exciting event. Seattle Hip-Hop Career & Business Expo
The Seattle Hip-Hop Career & Business Expo, scheduled for October 9, is part of the Seattle City of Music Festival and will focus on introducing young people who are part of the hip-hop generation to the many career and business opportunities in and around hip-hop music and culture as well as providing aspiring artists and entrepreneurs with tools to grow their careers and businesses. Featured guests include Ben London (Media Rights Manager, Hewlett Packard), Devon Manier (Sport N Life Records), Tony Kiewel (Head of A&R, Sub Pop), Larry Mizell Jr. (The Stranger, KEXP), David Meinert (Fuzed Music), Kate Becker (Seattle Theater Group) and many more.
