Sasquatch! Music Festival
The 2011 Sasquatch! Music Festival, with its added day, was so colossally amazing that some are still recovering from the four full days of music, dancing, hot weather worship and Gorge homage. It couldn’t have been a better 10th birthday for Sasquatch! with the best of Seattle and international musical talent. Even though the headdresses have been hung up and the neon face paint has faded, it’s not too late to enjoy the best of the fest. NPR teamed up with KEXP to record and archive various standout live performances from Sasquatch! artists, available to stream on NPR’s website. Our local reporters and photographers who locked down one of the best assignments of the year did an amazing job documenting the joy and cacophony of the festival. Check out the daily reviews from The Seattle Times and Seattle Weekly and some amazing photos from local photographer Kyle Johnson, including a special feature on Sasquatch! fashion and style. Kudos to all the Seattle bands, big and small, that played Sasquatch! and help make it one of the most diverse and exciting festivals in the world.

Entertainment Weekly
The newly-released DVD of Seattle-centric music doc, Wheedle’s Groove has landed the #4 spot in Entertainment Weekly’s “Top 10 things to check out this week.” With narration by the incomparable Sir Mix-A-Lot, interviews with the stars of Seattle Soul, and commentary from local music icons like Quincy Jones, Kenny G, Soundgarden, Death Cab for Cutie and Mudhoney, the locally-made documentary shines a powerful light on a vibrant and prolific musical movement that “grooved” Seattle decades before the grunge wave that put us on the map. The new DVD—which is now available via iTunes, Netflix, Hulu and a host of national retailers– also includes deleted scenes, concert footage, a What’s a Wheedle? featurette and more. Congrats to the filmmakers! Groovin’ Bonus: You can also catch Wheedle’s Groove at this year’s Sasquatch Music Festival!
2011 SASQUATCH MUSIC FESITVAL ALREADY SOLD OUT
2011 Sasquatch Music Festival
100,000 tickets have been purchased and 2011 has set a new record for the Sasquatch Music Festival sales speed. Selling out three times as fast as last year’s (sold out) festival even with the advent of an additional day added to the schedule, the crew at Sasquatch certainly hit the nail on the head with the lineup they announced merely a week ago. All festival attendees are encouraged to carpool to the event and register their mileage savings at www.esurance.com/carpool to win prizes and track the positive environmental impact. People who shared rides to Sasquatch in 2010 (and registered with Zimride), saved 326,920 driving miles; the equivalent of 1.37 trips to the moon. Lets try for an even more impressive interplanetary feat this year Seattle. Scope out the upper link to learn more about the festival and view this year’s impressive lineup.
