Dance and sing along to non-stop Gaelic music at Irish Festival, a weekend-long cultural event hosted by Seattle Center’s Center House and Fisher Pavilion. Presented by the Irish Heritage Club of Seattle, the event will include colorful cultural exhibits and screenings of contemporary Irish short films in addition to workshops that will help you trace your Irish roots and learn the language. Irish Festival is part of Festál, a year-long series of free events that honor cultural richness and diversity, presented by Seattle Center in partnership with community organizations. Irish Reels
Now in its twelfth year, the Irish Reels Film Festival returns to Seattle on March 12 – 14. Screenings will take place at Henry Art Gallery, Seattle Art Museum and free screenings at the Seattle Center. The guest of honor this year will be the Right Honorable Desmond Guinness. The festival kicks off with a lecture and film screening with Mr. Guinness, sharing his preservation efforts with the Irish Georgian Society, at the Henry Art Gallery on Friday, March 12 at 7:00 pm. Other notable mentions are the highly-acclaimed new feature by Conor McPherson, The Eclipse; the Oscar nominated short animated film, Granny O’Grimm’s Sleeping Beauty, and the IFTA-nominated documentary, The Yellow Bittern, profiling the Clancy Brothers’ musical journey. Irish Week Festival
Seattle Center:
Irish tunes, step dancing and the Irish jig breathe spirit and life into this tuneful Festival. Compete in Gaelic games, trace your own Irish history, learn a little of the language and mingle with Irish celebrities. The free festival is held from March 14 – 15 from 11am – 6pm.
