Brazil Center Seattle
The January flooding and mudslides in Brazil have devastated several cities in the mountainous interior of the state of Rio de Janeiro, killing nearly 900 people, destroying homes and businesses, displacing nearly 3000 residents, and disrupting power, water, communication, and transportation systems throughout the country. In response to these tragic events, the Help Rio! Committee convened a group of Brazilians and Seattleites to organize a music and dance benefit event this Friday, February 11, at Bellevue’s Music Works. The benefit will feature Brazilian-infused performances from a host of flavorful local acts including, Eduardo Mendonça, Show Brazil, Jovino Santos Neto, ZumZumZum, International Capoeira Angola, Dora Oliveira, and more. Event organizers are reaching out to the entire Pacific Northwest to raise funds for the victims of this natural disaster, and will also be accepting donations online, via mail and at the door of the Help Rio! Event. To learn more about the benefit or to find out how you can help, be sure to follow the above link.
