Seattle Times
Two Northwest indie favorites will help Neumo’s celebrate its five-year anniversary with a free show on Thursday: The Helio Sequence, from Portland, and Seattle band Grand Hallway. The Helio Sequence’s sound was in part determined by the journey of the band. After strenuous touring, lead singer Brandon Summers’ vocal chords were shredded, so he taught himself how to sing again. The result: indie electronica with a refreshing earnestness. Grand Hallway fills out its sound with violins, piano, pedal steel, accordion and a marimba.
