The Stranger
The Grand Illusion Cinema will hold its second annual fundraiser tomorrow evening to support the volunteer-run theater residing in the University District. Last year’s sold-out event saved the cinema from nearly closing its doors. Open since 1968, the Grand Illusion Cinema has specialized in showing classic, cult and art house films to a diverse crowd. Tomorrow there will be screenings of the Hitchcock classic Rear Window at 6:30 pm and 9:30 pm. Each showing will be preceded by a reception with drinks and light hors d’oeuvres. Attendees can also bid on silent auction items or enter a raffle for prizes donated by SIFF, Criterion Collection, Scarecrow Video, Seattle Sounders FC, and more.
SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR THE GRAND ILLUSION CINEMA
Grand Illusion Cinema
Casablanca is one of the best films ever made. The Grand Illusion is one of the best theaters in Seattle. What better way to combine them than a big old fundraising event this Saturday, September 25. There will be a silent auction and raffle with some amazing prizes from Northwest Film Forum, SIFF, Seattle Opera and others. You have two opportunities to catch the classic film (6:30pm and 9:30pm), and doors will open an hour before each screening, providing you with plenty of time to mingle, snack on some hors d’oeuvres, grab a drink and listen to the sounds of the U-District’s own Rick’s Café. Get your tickets at the Grand Illusion box office or Scarecrow Video.
