GRAND ILLUSION CINEMA FUNDRAISER TAKES PLACE TOMORROW
The Stranger
The Grand Illusion Cinema will hold its second annual fundraiser tomorrow evening to support the volunteer-run theater residing in the University District. Last year’s sold-out event saved the cinema from nearly closing its doors. Open since 1968, the Grand Illusion Cinema has specialized in showing classic, cult and art house films to a diverse crowd. Tomorrow there will be screenings of the Hitchcock classic Rear Window at 6:30 pm and 9:30 pm. Each showing will be preceded by a reception with drinks and light hors d’oeuvres. Attendees can also bid on silent auction items or enter a raffle for prizes donated by SIFF, Criterion Collection, Scarecrow Video, Seattle Sounders FC, and more.
A DRINK FOR THE KIDS BENEFIT
Three Imaginary Girls
This past Saturday night Neumo’s hosted the final night of the Vera Project’s annual “A Drink For The Kids” fundraiser. The killer lineup of Grand Hallway, Throw Me The Statue, and Robin Pecknold was a perfect conclusion to the week’s celebrations. Check out these great photos of the benefit!
LOVE LAND’S “THE BEAUTIFUL TRUTH” LISTENING PARTY AT GAINSBOURG
Three Imaginary Girls:
Fresh off the series of John Spalding benefit concerts, Seattle just keeps giving it back tenfold — this time it’s a listening party for John Spalding’s one and only solo album, Love Land’s “The Beautiful Truth.” This unique and beautiful solo album was created with the help of members of Minus The Bear, Past Lives, These Arms Are Snakes, Pretty Girls Make Graves, and others, and will be played in its entirety at Gainsbourg. In addition, Gainsbourg will be giving 10% of all food and drink sales that night to the Memorial Fund, which helps John’s family pay the phenomenal costs of his medical bills.
