Shabazz Palaces is featured along with nine other buzzworthy artists in the The L.A. Times’ 2011 list of “Faces to Watch” in music. Citing the sharp, poetic rhymes of Shabazz frontman, Ishmael Butler, the Times has this to say about the Seattle-bred experimental rappers: “Two self-released albums introduced the mysterious collective’s sound, an unexpected blend of heady club rhythms, smoky psychedelia and world-fusion curveballs [….] Now signed to indie powerhouse Sub Pop, Shabazz Palaces promises to return Butler to a strong position within the scene he charmed in his youth.” To view the entire list, be sure to hit up the link.
