Seattle Times
We may be deep into the MP3 Age, but there are still plenty of independent record stores all across the country, and Saturday’s Record Store Day ’09 sets out to remind you of that.
A host of independent record stores and small chains in the Seattle area and around the state — including Sonic Boom Records, Easy Street Records, Silver Platters, Everyday Music and more than a dozen others — will be open for special events, hosting live performances and distributing products designed just for Record Store Day (such as a new 7-inch record from the Decemberists, and a new DVD from Wilco). Locally, Seattle label Sub Pop will be releasing limited-edition 7-inchers by their artists Flight of the Conchords, Vetiver, Obits and Blitzen Trapper.
