Pitchfork recently declared Shabazz Palaces’ song “32 leaves dipped in blackness making clouds forming altered carbon” from the self-titled mini-album as “Best New Music.” Larry Fitzmaurice says of the song, “Butler spitting air-tight rhymes about throwing hot sauce on cabbage and pouring out Chablis with menace, over a bass-heavy beat that might be described as a ‘trunk rattler’ if it didn’t sound more intent on blowing up your entire car. Meanwhile, uneasy tones weave all around, like aftermath from the track’s skull-shattering opening snare hits.” Fitzmaurice also calls the song “eerie” and “super-promising.” Check out the full Pitchfork review at the above link.
