SEATTLE WEEKLY
If you have ever dared spinning your radio dial left of 90.3 you may have heard the bass heavy, synth drenched sounds of C-89.5 FM, Nation Hale Highschool’s nationally acclaimed student run radio station. Students play their favorite pop and dance hits all day, while after school specials include techno, drum n’ bass and house blends into the wee hours of the night. The station has been leading the nation’s noncommercial radio scene with new music spinning daily and is renowned for always being one step ahead of the game. Nathan Hale has boasting rights for getting acts like La Roux, Rhianna and Lady Gaga to perform at their school before they were the big names they are today. C-89.5 will be celebrating its 40th birthday party this weekend at Neighbors on Capitol Hill with tickets going for $8.95 with performances from Brooklyn Bounce, H-Boogie, Niamh Egan, Lisa Dank, and Melakai and it’s an all-ages affair.
