The well-known book “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” is now a Hollywood movie — and one of the stars lives right here in our area. The movie opens March 19 in theaters. And Karan Brar of Bothell plays the role of — a wimpy kid. He’s just a local kid who told his dad one day, “I want to try acting.” Months later, Hollywood came knocking. Karan auditioned for the role of Chirag and beat out 9,000 other kids for the part. “This is a land of opportunity, and this thing happens only in America,” says his father. Based on the popular book, “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” is a story about all the awkward things a prepubescent kid goes through, starting out in middle school … the hormones, trying to fit in, getting picked on by the older kids. Kidding aside, the whole family couldn’t be more proud. And he promises he’ll keep a level head.
