City Arts Magazine
See musicians forced out of their comfort zones at City Arts’ the Song Show, happening tonight at the Triple Door. The show offers a simple but unique concept: artists perform original music and City Arts editor Mark Baumgarten interrupts their sets in order to interview them live on stage. It’s a chance to hear new music and learn more about the music you already love … or will love by the end of the night. Headlining this week’s show are Seattle powerpop heroes The Lashes, who are reuniting for their first show in 2010. Matt Bishop, frontman for Hey Marseilles, will perform sans his usually large band, but he still brings genuine lyrics and a large heart. P Smoov breaks up the indie rock sounds with some hip-hop and Kristen Ward rounds off the mix with her rich voice and folk-inspired guitar.
