826 Seattle
826 Seattle is a nonprofit writing and tutoring center dedicated to helping youth, ages 6 to 18, improve their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. Their services are structured around the belief that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success. In the next two-week Sasquatch themed workshop for kids 7 to 12, writings will incorporate band names from the long roster of the past ten years of the festival. Don’t tell me you’ve never heard the story of the Sasquatch who lived in the Aqueduct with the Fleet Foxes and a Modest Mouse, staying warm during The Long Winters? (Yes, they built an Arcade Fire, but only during Decemberists.) Sound weird but oddly fun? That’s a Sasquatch for you! Story writing will include revision time so that these stories may be considered for publication in the Sasquatch! Music Festival yearbook. Click the link above to check out 826 and all their Sasquatch themed writing workshops and definitely pass the info on to any whippersnappers who could benefit from the writing class under the guise of fun.
